Biograde T-BM
Rigid Moulding or Sheet grade Resin-Biodegradable
· For use in applications where compostability is required
Description
BIOGRADE TBM is a fully biodegradable plastic based on a blend of thermoplastic
starch (TPS), aliphatic polyesters (AP), filler and natural plasticizers (glycerol and sorbitol). This grade of resin is compatibilised to offer a high level of mechanical strength, good elongation properties and toughness. The resin is based on corn starch which is a renewable material. The resin does not contain polyolefins.
Applications
· Injection moulded products such as cutlery, toothbrushes, combs, golf-tees, etc.
· Horticultural products such as flower pots and stakes
· Injection moulded caps and closures
· Extruded sheet for disposable plates and produce trays
· Extruded tubes for aquatic applications

Processing Conditions
BIOGRADE TBM resin can be processed on standard injection moulding machines or extrusion (sheet or profile)
Suggested Max Moisture (%) 0.2
Middle Temperature (°C) 160 to 170 deg.C
Front Temperature (°F) 140 to 150 deg.C
Nozzle Temperature (°C) 170 to 180 deg.C
Processing (Melt) Temp (°C) 160 to 165 deg.C
Mold Temperature (°C) 10 to 15 deg.C
Specific Instructions for Moulding of BIOGRADE T-BM Resin:
Before moulding the resin, the injection moulders barrel needs to be purged and cleaned of residual polyethylene or other polymers and then the BIOGRADE T-BM resin can be used as the last cleaning step, after which the temperature can be adjusted to the correct settings.
Other Comments
1. Printability of Biograde TBM is excellent without the need for surface treatment such corona discharge.
2. Wet TBM resin should be dried at 60-70 deg.C for 2-3 hrs before processing.
